Key responsibilities
- Operate TIG, MIG, and Oxy‑acetylene welding equipment and common shop tools such as grinders, sanders, and hydraulic straightening equipment; train Welder I‑III.
- Develop welding projects by analyzing work orders, engineering prints, and assemblies, calculating requirements, and selecting appropriate welding techniques.
- Utilize measuring tools—including tape measures, framing squares, straight edges, calipers, and laser levels—to ensure precision.
- Read engineering drawings and use cutting equipment to prepare stock (tubing, angle iron, channel iron, flat bar) for complex welded and frame assemblies.
- Fabricate miscellaneous welded assemblies and more complex frame assemblies while maintaining a clean, safe work area and proper tool handling.
Required profile
- Advanced specialized expertise in analytical/scientific welding processes to perform the most complex tasks.
- Strong understanding of how related teams coordinate resources to achieve objectives.
- Ability to act as a lead, allocate work, and provide subject‑matter guidance to junior team members.
- Judgment to identify and solve problems with little or no precedent.
- Impact on the effectiveness of own team and closely related teams.
- Effective communication with tact and diplomacy.
