Web Developer (Front‑end/UX Focus)

About the role

The Kinder Institute for Urban Research is seeking a full‑time Web Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance web applications that support its research centers. The role focuses on front‑end development with a strong UX/UI emphasis while also offering opportunities to grow back‑end skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement responsive, user‑friendly web interfaces for institute websites and tools.
• Collaborate with researchers and designers to translate data‑driven insights into engaging digital experiences.
• Develop and integrate front‑end components using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Maintain and enhance existing web applications, ensuring performance and accessibility.
• Work with back‑end APIs, handling JSON/XML data exchanges.
• Use version control (Git/GitHub) to manage codebase and support team collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of professional web development experience.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating front‑end design and UX/UI expertise.
• Ability to work both independently and within a hybrid team environment.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Python (basic back‑end scripting)
• VueJS or ReactJS (or both)
• Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML
• Git and GitHub for version control
