About the role
The Waterjet Operator will set up and run Flow and OMAX waterjet cutting systems for Oceaneering’s Marine Services Division in Chesapeake, VA. The role focuses on producing precision components, maintaining equipment, and completing required documentation while ensuring a safe, organized work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate Flow and OMAX waterjet machines, including material loading, fixturing, nozzle alignment, abrasive loading, and pump start‑up.
- Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to achieve required tolerances and edge quality.
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot cutting files (DX, tool paths, lead‑ins/outs, kerf compensation) directly on the machine.
- Perform in‑process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and scales.
- Complete production and inspection documentation accurately.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, including pump inspections, nozzle replacement, abrasive system upkeep, and filter changes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all safety procedures for high‑pressure waterjet systems.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of experience operating CNC waterjet cutting systems, preferably Flow and/or OMAX.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments for in‑process and final inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Experience with CNC programming and on‑machine program editing.
- Mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship).
