VP, Forest Biometrics Manager

About the role

Campbell Global, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan, is seeking a Vice President to lead forest biometrics across its timberland portfolio. Based in Portland, Oregon, you will guide forest mensuration, growth‑and‑yield modeling, timber and carbon inventory systems, and carbon measurement and accounting for U.S. and international assets.

Key responsibilities

• Set direction and protocols for forest inventory data collection and modeling to support operational and investment decisions.
• Maintain and enhance growth‑and‑yield models for inventory updates, harvest planning, carbon strategy, and operational planning.
• Participate in carbon accounting initiatives, annual reporting, and carbon project development, monitoring, and verification.
• Provide technical oversight for remotely sensed inventory models and integrate remote‑sensing data where relevant.
• Support acquisition initiatives through inventory verification, due‑diligence review, and decision support across regions.
• Represent the company in silviculture, tree‑improvement, modeling, and research collaborations, transferring research into practice.
• Respond to internal and external information requests in a timely, professional manner.

Required profile

• MS degree in Forestry with a concentration in biometrics or statistics, or equivalent education/experience.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in forest inventory, growth modeling, or related fields.
• Strong research, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and locations.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of forest inventory techniques and growth modeling.
• Experience with GIS and relational databases for querying, analysis, and reporting.
• Programming capability in a structured language (R preferred; Python acceptable).
