VP Controller – Corporate Functions

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned VP Controller to lead corporate finance functions for our investment banking advisory firm in Manhattan. This senior position will oversee technology investment accounting, drive financial reporting excellence, and support strategic decision‑making across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial oversight of technology investments, including budgeting, capitalization, and cost governance.
• Manage the annual technology investment plan, identify cost trends, accounting issues, and optimization opportunities.
• Consolidate global financial results and deliver reporting and analysis to support executive decision‑making.
• Enhance financial reporting processes by streamlining workflows and improving efficiency.
• Support compensation planning through financial modeling, tracking, and analysis.
• Analyze budget‑to‑actual results and prepare variance reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Partner with procurement, accounts payable, and finance teams to ensure accurate accounting and expense reporting.
• Coordinate month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities, including accruals, reclassifications, and financial reporting.
• Assist with regulatory filings and accounting policy initiatives in collaboration with technical accounting teams.
• Oversee accounting for strategic projects, contracts, and capitalized assets while supporting process improvements and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8‑9+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or a related role.
• Experience in financial services and IT/Technology finance.
• CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
