Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Michael Unit

About the role

The Michael Unit seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to deliver direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within Texas correctional facilities. You will work under the Correctional Managed Care program, providing comprehensive nursing services in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures and modify care plans under supervision.
• Observe, record, and report patient signs, symptoms, and changes in status.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following physician orders.
• Assemble equipment, assist with diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and adhere to infection‑control and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and accurate documentation in all records.
• Notify nursing and medical staff of any changes or crises and follow internal reporting structures.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited LVN program and a current Texas LVN license or permit.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HP) certification.
• Willingness to obtain security clearance and undergo pre‑employment drug testing.
• Ability to work in a prison, jail, or juvenile detention setting; recent graduates with temporary permits are considered.
