Vital Statistics Business Analyst

About the role

The Vital Statistics Business Analyst will support critical public‑health reporting and compliance initiatives for Texas state agencies. This contract position is based in Austin and focuses on interpreting and applying Texas Vital Statistics laws, policies, and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply Texas Vital Statistics statutes, policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure accurate reporting.
• Lead or contribute to projects involving Texas HHSC, Texas DSHS, or other state HHSC/DHS Vital Statistics and Vital Records initiatives.
• Analyze vital records data to identify trends, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare detailed documentation, reports, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with agency partners, legal teams, and data specialists to maintain data integrity and regulatory adherence.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 + years of experience interpreting Texas Vital Statistics laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Strong background working on Texas HHSC, Texas DSHS, or other state HHSC/DHS Vital Statistics or Vital Records projects.
• Residency in Austin, Texas, is mandatory.
