About the role
The Department of Sociology and Communication at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Communication for the FY27 academic year, beginning Fall 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Teach the equivalent of 18 course credits per year (3/3 load) in media writing, news editing, mass communication, or related specialty areas.
- Develop and maintain an active research agenda that produces tangible outputs such as articles, books, or grant proposals.
- Contribute service to the Communication program, department, college, university, and professional community.
Required profile
- PhD in Communication or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, to be completed by the start date.
- University‑level teaching experience in Communication or related subjects commensurate with an Assistant Professor rank.
- Willingness and ability to teach in‑person classes.
