Virtual K-5th Grade Teacher

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Virtual K‑5th Grade Teacher to join the Virtual Preparatory Academy of Ohio. This fully online, tuition‑free public school serves K‑12 students across Ohio, delivering a rigorous curriculum while supporting social‑emotional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor for assigned virtual classes.
• Deliver live, research‑based lessons via web‑conference tools and set up courses in the Learning Management System.
• Monitor student progress in asynchronous modules, grade assignments daily, and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain regular contact with each student and communicate progress to families.
• Collaborate with the principal to produce progress reports and adjust instruction based on data.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and integrate culturally responsive practices.
• Incorporate 21st‑century technology into daily classroom activities.
• Participate in non‑instructional events, including field trips and state‑required in‑person testing.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, adhering to school‑wide culture expectations.

Required profile

• Valid Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Knowledge of Ohio State Standards and Common Core.
• Preferably at least two years of classroom teaching experience.
• Comfort working in a growth‑focused coaching environment with frequent observations and feedback.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
