Violence Prevention Coordinator

About the role

The Violence Prevention Coordinator works within the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Safety to lead community‑level safety initiatives, address upstream causes of violence, and provide direct intervention for at‑risk individuals. This role builds strong partnerships with local organizations to empower youth and promote long‑term neighborhood stability.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement violence‑prevention programs in collaboration with the Stop the Violence Office.
• Engage community partners to develop policies and programming that support vulnerable populations.
• Conduct outreach, crisis intervention, and case management for individuals at risk of involvement in violence.
• Collect and analyze data to identify trends and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention strategies.
• Represent the department at community meetings, fostering trust and collaboration.

Required profile

• At least two years of full‑time experience in community outreach, violence prevention, crisis intervention, case management, youth engagement, or a related human‑service field.
• Associate’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
• Residency in the City of Pittsburgh prior to employment and maintenance of residency throughout employment.
• Ability to provide official transcripts and pass a comprehensive background investigation.
