Vice President of Operations

About the role

The Vice President of Operations will provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day oversight of all operational functions at L.A. Times Studios. Reporting directly to the President, this senior executive will align operations with corporate strategy, drive efficiency, and ensure financial performance across the studio’s diverse business units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies that support company growth and scalability.
• Lead cross‑functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Content, Events, Games, and Technology to ensure alignment and measurable impact.
• Evaluate and improve workflows, communication structures, and policies for cost‑effectiveness and high‑quality outcomes.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking in partnership with Finance, ensuring P&L accountability and margin improvement.
• Partner with the President to set strategic priorities, monitor progress, and drive project execution.
• Coordinate company‑wide projects, manage inter‑departmental dependencies, and mitigate risks proactively.
• Supervise and mentor directors, managers, and operational staff, fostering leadership development and succession planning.
• Build and sustain a culture of high performance, accountability, and operational discipline.
• Collaborate with Legal to ensure compliance and effective risk management.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in operations leadership, preferably within media, entertainment, or studio environments.
• Strong strategic thinking with a track record of aligning operations to corporate objectives.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work closely with leaders across multiple business units.
• Comfort using AI‑enabled tools to create operational efficiencies.
• Ability to drive cultural change, promote accountability, and develop high‑performing teams.
