Vice President, Internal Audit

About the role

The Vice President of Internal Audit leads the organization’s internal audit function, delivering independent assurance and consulting services that support risk management, governance, compliance, and internal controls. Reporting to senior leadership, the Board, and the Audit and Risk Committee, this role ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute audit strategy, annual audit plan, and quality‑assurance program.
• Oversee audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow‑up for all financial, operational, information‑security, and technology‑control audits.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations through written reports and oral presentations to the CEO, COO, CLO, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee.
• Maintain proactive relationships with senior leaders to stay informed of business changes and identify audit opportunities.
• Lead confidential audits and investigations as directed by the CLO, CEO, COO, or Board.
• Represent Internal Audit on cross‑functional teams and internal committees.
• Supervise the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) to detect and report suspected healthcare fraud and abuse.
• Develop and monitor the audit department budget, ensuring expenses stay within approved limits.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in internal audit, risk management, or related fields.
• Proven ability to lead large audit teams and manage complex investigations.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with C‑suite executives, board members, and external regulators.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering high‑quality audit reports and driving corrective actions.
• Ability to develop and maintain a robust quality‑assurance and improvement program.
