Vice President, Controller

About the role

ShiftKey is seeking a Vice President, Controller to lead its accounting organization. The role oversees an established team and processes, focusing on tightening controls, accelerating the close, and preparing audit‑ready financials. You will partner with senior finance leaders and drive the next level of speed and scale for the company’s financial engine.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the controllership organization—including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, vendor disbursements, Tax, and Treasury—through a director and managers.
• Own the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting and the monthly close process, making it materially faster and cleaner.
• Prepare clean, audit‑ready financials and support an upcoming external audit with urgency.
• Partner with the AR team to control days sales outstanding and resolve payment reliability issues.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and overall financial discipline.
• Drive process improvement and automation using accounting systems and AI tools.
• Collaborate with senior finance and revenue leadership to flag risks, solve problems, and support key business decisions.

Required profile

• CPA certification required.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with senior leadership managing directors/managers.
• Deep technical accounting and US GAAP knowledge with hands‑on experience owning financial reporting, close, controls, and audit.
• Openness to using AI in accounting workflows and a proven track record improving processes at scale.
• Strong ERP experience and executive presence to partner effectively with senior leadership.
