Vice President, Controller

About the role

Group 1 Automotive, a Fortune 250 automotive retailer, is seeking a transformational Vice President, Controller to lead its global accounting organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this executive partner will support the company’s growth, acquisition strategy, and governance through strategic financial leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee SEC reporting, external financial reporting, and technical accounting for a multinational portfolio.
• Lead SOX compliance, controllership, consolidations, and financial systems management.
• Drive organizational transformation, building high‑performing accounting teams across the United States and United Kingdom.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors, translating complex financial data into actionable business insights.
• Maintain a best‑in‑class control environment and ensure the integrity, transparency, and accuracy of global financial reporting.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience in a global accounting function, preferably within a publicly traded company.
• Proven ability to communicate technical accounting concepts to senior leadership and board members.
• Strong commercial mindset with a track record of building scalable finance organizations.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving cultural change toward financial excellence and continuous improvement.
