About the role
Reliable Safety & Flow Corporation is seeking a Value Stream Manager (VSM) to lead, coordinate, and continuously improve one of two product value streams (Gruvlok or Threaded Fittings) within the machine shop. The role ensures customer requirements are met at the highest levels of safety, quality, delivery, and cost‑effectiveness.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a cross‑functional team of supervisors, engineers, and operators within the assigned value stream.
- Build and sustain a culture of accountability, teamwork, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Own value‑stream performance and achieve KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and lead time.
- Collaborate with planning, scheduling, materials, and supply‑chain teams to ensure efficient material flow and on‑time delivery.
- Drive Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, standard work, visual management, and waste reduction.
- Develop and execute value‑stream roadmaps aligned with business growth objectives.
- Identify and implement capital investment, automation, and technology enhancements.
- Partner with engineering and quality to resolve recurring issues and improve first‑pass yield.
- Track, analyze, and report operational performance metrics to leadership.
- Lead Gemba walks, value‑stream reviews, and operational meetings to remove obstacles and ensure alignment.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in machining, metalworking, or industrial settings.
- Proven experience leading teams of 50+ employees in a production environment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Experience monitoring and driving KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
Required skills
- Deep knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications and data‑analysis tools.
