Value Added Tax (VAT) Senior Manager

About the role

PwC is seeking a senior leader to oversee its Value Added Tax (VAT) practice within the State & Local Tax team in Chicago. The role involves advising large corporate clients on indirect tax strategy, compliance and planning, while driving innovation through technology and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large‑scale VAT, GST and sales‑tax projects from inception to delivery.
• Design and implement process improvements and automation solutions to increase advisory efficiency.
• Maintain high standards of operational excellence and quality control.
• Engage with senior client stakeholders to understand needs and ensure successful outcomes.
• Develop and sustain long‑term client relationships.
• Mentor, coach and develop junior team members.
• Contribute to thought leadership and stay current on indirect tax regulations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in indirect tax, particularly VAT, GST or sales tax.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and navigate ambiguous situations.
• Strong judgment, decision‑making and coaching capabilities.
• Commitment to professional and technical standards and to fostering an inclusive team environment.
