UX/UI Specialist

About the role

ON.energy is seeking a UX/UI Specialist to design, prototype, and develop front‑end interfaces for its SCADA and automation products used in energy storage systems. The role blends aesthetic design, user research, and hands‑on front‑end implementation to deliver intuitive, high‑performance visual solutions for operators and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain SCADA product interfaces and new features based on evolving user needs and technical feedback.
• Develop static front‑end components using HTML, CSS, Flexbox, and Grid within specialized industrial software.
• Create, manage, and optimise vector graphics and SVGs for high‑performance use in the SCADA environment.
• Maintain and expand an internal Design System using Adobe Illustrator and Figma, covering styles, iconography, typography, and colour palettes.
• Collaborate with engineering to solve logic problems and make product interfaces dynamic and data‑driven.
• Ensure responsive design for both Light and Dark modes and optimise interfaces for touch‑screen HMI devices.
• Facilitate regular feedback sessions with English‑ and Spanish‑speaking users to validate design directions.
• Refactor and optimise front‑end code for performance, maintainability, and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong eye for detail and ability to maintain consistency across all screens and product modules.
• Experience designing workflows for complex tasks such as device settings editing and system configuration.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment (3 days onsite in Houston) or remotely for Mexico‑based candidates.
