Usability Designer

About the role

As a Usability Designer within Philips’ Ambulatory Monitoring & Diagnostics business, you will shape products that improve patient outcomes and clinician experiences worldwide. You will champion user‑centered design, ensuring solutions are safe, effective and intuitive for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Define usability activities across all development phases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct user research, task analysis and develop use scenarios.
• Provide usability input to design safe‑to‑use solutions and lead usability FMEA activities.
• Plan, execute and report usability evaluations, ensuring critical findings are addressed.
• Conduct summative evaluations and create the usability engineering file in compliance with FDA guidance and IEC 62366‑1.
• Analyze post‑market and telemetry data to identify usability issues.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in usability engineering for complex systems, preferably medical devices.
• Experience across the product lifecycle from user needs to validation and post‑market follow‑up.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cognitive and physical ergonomics.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and risk management principles.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements for medical device usability (FDA guidance, IEC 62366‑1).

• Salary range $129,000 – $205,000 per year.
