USA Hospitality, Culinary & F&B Internship

About the role

Beyond Grad, a recruitment agency, offers a 6- and 12-month paid internship/trainee programme in the United States for hospitality, culinary and food and beverage students and recent graduates. Candidates are placed with participating 4- and 5-star U.S. hotels, resorts and hospitality employers in departments such as Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Pastry, Front Desk / Front Office, Guest Services, Hospitality Operations and rotational programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day hotel, resort or restaurant operations
• Prepare and present food according to professional kitchen standards
• Support food preparation, kitchen operations and food-safety procedures
• Provide professional food and beverage service to guests
• Support restaurant, banquet and hospitality service operations
• Support front-desk, reservations and guest-services functions
• Provide excellent customer service to international guests
• Follow the host employer's operational, health, safety and service standards
• Take part in structured departmental rotations and the J-1 training or internship programme

Required profile

• Interns: no previous work experience is not necessarily required; trainees must have at least 12 months of experience
• Currently studying or recently graduated in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, Food & Beverage Management, Tourism, Hotel Management or a related field
• Strong interest in an international hospitality career
• Good spoken and written English
• Willingness to relocate to the United States for about 6-12 months
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one

What we offer

• Paid placement of 6-12 months with an hourly stipend of approximately US$14-US$20 per hour (R30 000-R40 000 monthly)
• Approximately 32-40 working hours per week, with occasional overtime depending on the host employer
