US Tax Sr. Specialist

About the role

Nubank is establishing its first US tax function as it prepares to become a fully licensed bank in the United States. The Senior US Tax Specialist will design, build, and own the internal tax governance, controls, and compliance processes for a fast‑growing financial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Transition the tax function from an outsourced model to an in‑house operation, creating processes, documentation, and governance standards.
• Manage the full tax compliance cycle, including timely filing of federal, state, and international forms such as 1120, 5471, 8858, 8865, FBAR/FATCA, and indirect taxes.
• Maintain the SOX/ICFR internal control environment and act as the primary liaison for IRS and state tax examinations.
• Collaborate with global leadership and external advisors to define long‑term US tax strategy.

Required profile

• Seasoned US tax professional with experience in a regulated financial institution.
• Proven ability to build tax functions from scratch and establish robust governance.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and international tax filing requirements.
• Experience handling SOX/ICFR controls and tax audit defense.

Required skills

• Preparation and review of Form 1120.
• International reporting on Forms 5471, 8858, 8865.
• FBAR and FATCA reporting.
• State tax compliance and indirect tax knowledge.
• SOX/ICFR control implementation.
