U.S. Army Preventive Medicine Officer

About the role

The U.S. Army is seeking qualified Preventive Medicine Officers to protect the health of Soldiers, retirees, and their families. In this position you will combine clinical expertise with public‑health leadership to prevent disease and injury across military communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Force Health Protection initiatives, assessing and mitigating health threats at individual and population levels.
• Develop, implement, and oversee public‑health programs including assessment, policy development, and assurance.
• Establish and direct physical medicine and rehabilitation services at medical installations.
• Train, mentor, and coordinate with multidisciplinary health professionals such as public‑health nurses, entomologists, environmental scientists, occupational medicine officers, and industrial hygienists.
• Participate in humanitarian missions and support community health efforts.

Required profile

• Must be a licensed medical doctor (MD or DO).
• Commitment to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
• Willingness to pursue additional military and medical education and training.
