Urgent Care Veterinarian

About the role

Join UrgentVet, a modern urgent‑care veterinary practice serving the Oceanside, New York area. As an Urgent Care Veterinarian you will provide after‑hours medical care for dogs and cats, handling common urgent cases without the high fees of emergency clinics.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver prompt, relationship‑based care for urgent canine and feline cases such as wound management, ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, and euthanasia.
• Collaborate with a strong technical team, clinical leadership, and support staff to ensure seamless clinic operations.
• Participate in community outreach and build relationships within the Long Island veterinary community.
• Mentor and develop support staff through the internal LevelUp training program.
• Manage a varied caseload during swing/second shift hours, focusing exclusively on urgent care (no wellness or abdominal surgeries).

Required profile

• DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA‑accredited institution (or successful completion of ECFVG or PAVE).
• Active veterinary license in good standing for the state of employment, or ability to obtain one.
• Commitment to a Fear‑Free, feline‑friendly practice environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud‑based electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Experience using digital radiography equipment.
• Familiarity with IDEXX in‑house laboratory equipment.
