About the role

The Upward Bound Academic Coordinator 2 supports the Upward Bound Director in delivering academic services to first‑generation and low‑income high‑school students in the Greater Baton Rouge area. This professional position involves coordinating program activities, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with Department of Education reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate weekly in‑school visits and program activities such as college trips, cultural events, and community service.
• Supervise tutorial sessions, workshops, and develop individualized student success plans.
• Monitor student academic progress, advise on interventions, and collaborate with high‑school staff and community partners.
• Maintain student application files, communicate with students and parents, and process admissions paperwork.
• Track and document program data in the BLUMEN database and fulfill Department of Education reporting mandates.
• Assist in preparing the Annual Performance Report and contribute to program evaluation and improvement.

Required profile

• Higher‑level thinking and decision‑making abilities.
• Experience working with first‑generation or low‑income student populations.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, community constituents, and program leadership.
• Attention to detail for documentation and reporting requirements.
