University Police Officer IV

About the role
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a seasoned law‑enforcement professional to lead a shift or specialized unit within its campus police department. Reporting to senior command, the Officer IV will supervise daily operations, ensure compliance with departmental standards, and respond to critical incidents.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise routine shift operations, set priorities, and evaluate staff performance.
- Monitor departmental standards, take corrective actions, and prepare improvement reports.
- Investigate citizen complaints regarding police performance.
- Assume command during serious accidents or incidents.
- Inspect and mentor law‑enforcement personnel under supervision.
- Review and edit reports generated by assigned staff.
- Perform all duties of University Police Officer II and III as required.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years of experience as a sworn police officer.
- Certification as a sworn police officer recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission.
- Valid Maryland non‑commercial Class C driver’s license.
