Unit Director – Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is seeking a senior leader to direct its statewide Artificial Intelligence program. As Unit Director, you will translate AI strategy and policy into operational processes that enable agencies and vendors to explore, pilot, and scale AI use cases responsibly.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational planning and execution for Georgia’s AI initiatives, ensuring consistency, transparency, and accountability.
• Develop and maintain operating rhythms, documentation standards, intake workflows, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate with Digital Services, Security, Legal, Procurement, HR, Communications, and agency partners to deliver AI projects smoothly.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Horizons Innovation Lab and statewide AI training and workforce enablement programs.
• Act as the connective tissue between agencies, vendors, procurement, and internal teams, creating repeatable pathways for experimentation and adoption while upholding governance, security, and public‑trust requirements.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in managing large‑scale AI or technology programs.
• Strong understanding of public‑sector governance, security, and procurement processes.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across multiple government agencies and external partners.
