Underwriting Assistant – M&A Insurance

About the role

The Underwriting Assistant will support AXA XL's rapidly growing Mergers & Acquisitions Insurance division in New York. You will work directly with underwriters, brokers, and internal partners to ensure smooth processing of deal submissions and accurate preparation of underwriting files.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor deal submission flow, collect and verify account information, and communicate with brokers on behalf of underwriters.
• Analyze submission materials, summarize target company details, transaction parties, limits, and broker information, and maintain a daily review schedule.
• Create and maintain the M&A group shared drive, organize electronic files, and ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley and internal audit guidelines.
• Liaise with underwriters, brokers, and clients to communicate account status, track outstanding items, and manage non‑disclosure and non‑reliance requests.
• Enter transaction data into the M&A tracking database on a weekly basis and perform pre‑analysis support based on underwriting rules.
• Verify completeness of underwriting packages before handover to underwriters for risk analysis.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple submissions simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with insurance underwriting processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
