Unarmed Security Officer

About the role

Saint Louis University is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer to help maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors across its campus facilities. This position involves monitoring access points, identifying safety hazards, and providing courteous assistance to building occupants.

Key responsibilities

• Control entry to designated buildings in accordance with university policies.
• Observe and report any conditions that could create security or safety risks.
• Assist occupants and guests as needed while following established procedures.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors to support campus safety.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of related security experience.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain/maintain an unarmed security license from the St. Louis City/County Police Private Security Division.
• Demonstrated honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Required skills

• Knowledge of security reporting and general security procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to work the assigned schedule reliably.
