UAS Flight Test Technician

About the role

As a UAS Flight Test Technician you will support Seneca’s flight test program by preparing aircraft, managing ground equipment, running checklists, and keeping test sites safe and ready for operations. This ground‑operations role works closely with test pilots to ensure every flight test runs smoothly and captures high‑quality data.

Key responsibilities

• Run pre‑ and post‑flight checks, assemble vehicles to test configurations, spot mechanical/electrical issues early, and perform repairs or retrofits.
• Track battery health and usage, charge and organize ground equipment, and support basic repairs.
• Maintain safe, compliant test operations by monitoring weather, enforcing limits, and calling aborts when needed.
• Operate cameras and instrumentation, upload footage and logs daily, and produce post‑flight test reports.
• Conduct controlled fire‑ignition tests, operate fire extinguishers, and follow fire‑safety protocols.
• Keep the test site clean, organized, and hazard‑free; manage consumables and facility needs.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical aptitude with confidence using power tools, hand tools, fasteners, and performing mechanical inspections.
• Hands‑on experience in technician work, fabrication, field operations, maintenance or repair.
• Safety‑first mindset with rigor around checklists, logs, and procedures.
• Technical literacy with two‑way radios, cameras, and web‑based software.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, work outdoors in variable conditions, and travel to regional test sites.
