Truck Driver

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Truck Driver to transport steel joists, decks, coils and other freight for Nucor’s Vulcraft Texas division in Grapeland, TX. The position involves delivering loads safely to designated sites while adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a commercial vehicle to transport steel products and other freight to specified delivery points.
• Inspect loads, secure them according to legal standards, and verify paperwork accuracy.
• Maintain accurate driver logs and records in compliance with federal, state and local DOT regulations.
• Adapt to variable schedules, including day and night shifts, with little notice.
• Collaborate with team members and uphold safety, efficiency and housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of verifiable commercial interstate driving experience.
• Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record (no more than two preventable accidents in the past two years).
• No more than three moving violations in the past three years (or two serious violations).
• Pass all DOT physical, written, driving and drug screening tests.
• Ability to live within 60 miles of Grapeland, TX.

Required skills

• CDL Class A operation.
• Flatbed and oversize load handling.
• Experience hauling joist, deck or steel coil loads.
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
• Knowledge of DOT compliance and vehicle inspection procedures.
