Trooper School – Basic & Accelerated Curriculum

About the role

The Georgia State Patrol is launching its 124th Joint Trooper School, offering both a Basic curriculum for new candidates and an Accelerated curriculum for those already POST certified. The program prepares graduates to serve as State Troopers, providing comprehensive law‑enforcement training and field experience.

Key responsibilities

• Complete intensive classroom instruction covering legal procedures, traffic enforcement, and public safety.
• Participate in physical fitness, firearms, and defensive tactics training.
• Undertake a 12‑week field training period under the supervision of experienced troopers.
• Apply learned skills to protect citizens, enforce state laws, and maintain public order.

Required profile

• Strong moral character, integrity, and a commitment to public service.
• Ability to handle high‑stress situations and make sound decisions.
• Physical fitness meeting the Georgia State Patrol standards.
• For the Accelerated track, prior POST certification or approved equivalency.
