Traveling Superintendent – Commercial Interior Construction

About the role

The Traveling Superintendent will lead field operations for Class A commercial office tenant improvement and interior construction projects across the United States. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role ensures work is completed to plans, specifications, safety and quality standards while maintaining schedule and client satisfaction. The position requires frequent regional and national travel with extended overnight stays.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all field operations and personnel on assigned commercial interior projects.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, laborers and coordinate multiple trades.
• Schedule daily construction activities to keep work on track.
• Ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, tools and manpower.
• Review plans, specifications and project documentation.
• Maintain daily reports, timesheets, safety records and accident reports.
• Monitor jobsite progress, quality, safety and productivity.
• Conduct site walks to identify and resolve potential issues.
• Participate in pre‑punch and punch‑list walks.
• Communicate closely with Project Managers, clients and internal teams.
• Provide proactive leadership and independent decision‑making on‑site.
• Mentor other superintendents and field personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a superintendent on commercial interior or tenant‑improvement projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
• Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight as required.
• Strong communication skills with clients, vendors and internal teams.
• Ability to mentor and support junior field staff.
