About the role
Spark Power is seeking a traveling Solar/BESS Technician to support utility‑scale solar farms and battery storage projects across the United States. The role involves installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and mechanical components of renewable energy assets.
Key responsibilities
- Work on a variety of solar and battery systems, including firmware updates and module replacement.
- Perform hot and cold commissioning, energization/de‑energization, and LOTO procedures.
- Troubleshoot charging/discharging of Samsung batteries and other equipment.
- Interpret schematics, blueprints, and OEM maintenance requirements (e.g., NETA MTS, CSA Z463).
- Complete safety documentation, tailgate meetings, electrical work permits, and quality‑assurance checklists.
- Provide daily digital reporting of all work performed.
- Participate in on‑call weekend service rotation and overtime as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and work independently when required.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education in electrical or mechanical fields is a plus.
- State‑certified Journeyman license and knowledge of the NEC are assets.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to lift 75 lb.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Digital literacy with proficiency in mobile apps and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and report writing.
