Transportation & Fleet Manager

About the role

The Transportation & Fleet Manager will lead the City’s Transportation Division, overseeing daily transit services and the management of municipal vehicle assets. This mid‑level management position ensures safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operations while supporting service delivery and asset management across the City.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and performance standards for shuttle and transit operations.
• Plan routes, assign work, and allocate equipment to meet operational goals, including city events and regional connectivity.
• Supervise dispatch, emergency response coordination, and vehicle inspections.
• Recruit, train, and orient personnel; monitor performance using ridership data and customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and local regulations, including safety and security programs.
• Manage fleet condition, utilization, lifecycle planning, and maintenance priorities.
• Analyze operations and implement efficiency improvements for both transit services and fleet usage.
• Maintain documentation and prepare reports on service metrics, vehicle inspections, mileage, incidents, and maintenance.

Required profile

• Mid‑level management experience in transportation, transit, or fleet operations.
• Strong knowledge of public transit regulations and safety standards.
• Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate emergency response, and manage large vehicle fleets.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Experience with GPS tracking systems.
• Familiarity with camera and passenger‑counting technologies.
• Proficiency in fleet management software platforms.
