Transportation Engineer (Staff Engineer) – Cadillac Service Center

About the role

The Transportation Engineer supports the Cadillac Transportation Service Center (CTSC) in designing, reviewing and administering road and bridge projects for the Michigan Department of Transportation. The role involves collaboration across service centers, meeting tight deadlines, and ensuring safe, efficient transportation infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare design plans for road, bridge, reconstruction and resurfacing projects.
• Administer construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Conduct traffic and safety reviews and evaluate utility and right‑of‑way permits.
• Collaborate with other Transportation Service Centers and regional staff, attend project meetings and resolve technical issues.
• Prioritize work and meet tight deadlines to support MDOT services.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license as required by the State of Michigan.
• Relevant experience ranging from entry‑level (Transportation Engineer 9) to senior (Transportation Engineer 12) as defined by MDOT.
• Ability to work both onsite and remotely as needed.
