Transportation Drainage Engineer

About the role

As a Professional Engineer for Drainage at Horrocks, you will work on large, multi‑discipline transportation projects, developing a diverse skill set in hydrology and hydraulic design. The role offers a blend of technical design, client interaction, and project management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and direct hydrology and hydraulic design for DOT projects such as bridges, roadways, highways, and freeways.
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation drainage projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to deliver projects on schedule.
• Interface with state and local agencies, conduct stakeholder meetings, and assist in proposal preparation.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 4–7 years of hydraulics design experience, including roadway drainage, flood control, erosion control, and stormwater treatment facilities.

Required skills

• MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) proficiency.
• Experience with ORD Drainage and Utilities, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC‑HMS, and HEC‑RAS.
• Knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, and FHWA highway drainage design criteria.
