Training Specialist

About the role

The Department of the Navy seeks a Training Specialist to design, deliver, and maintain comprehensive training programs that develop future leaders and support the career goals of both civilian and military personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Select, develop, and sustain an effective training program aligned with Command needs and employee development objectives.
• Apply Total Quality Leadership (TQL) and Shipyard principles to improve processes and optimize resource use.
• Develop, implement, assess, and modify leadership development and non‑production training programs across the Command.
• Provide instruction that combines practical knowledge of methods with technical subject‑matter expertise.
• Manage a government purchase card for training‑related expenses in accordance with NAVSUP guidelines.
• Travel to CONUS, OCONUS, remote, or isolated sites as required and maintain necessary security clearances.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen and eligible for federal employment.
• Pass E‑Verify and meet time‑in‑grade requirements for GS positions.
• Be registered for Selective Service if applicable.
• Obtain and maintain interim or final security clearance before duty.
• Reside within the commute area of the duty location.
• GS‑12: Minimum one year of specialized experience at the GS‑11 level, including establishing and developing training program materials.
• GS‑11: Minimum one year of specialized experience at the GS‑09 level.
