Training Director

About the role

The Training Director leads the design, delivery and evaluation of training programs for staff within Harris County’s Public Defender Office. Reporting to the Chief of Legal Services, the role ensures that learning initiatives support employee growth and align with the organization’s mission, vision and values.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement comprehensive training curricula for lawyers and support staff.
• Gather and curate training resources and materials.
• Deliver training sessions directly to legal and administrative personnel.
• Collaborate with the Chief of Legal Services, department supervisors and the Training Committee to identify learning needs.
• Assess training effectiveness and adjust programs to meet organizational goals.
• Perform administrative duties related to training management and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in creating and managing training programs, preferably in a legal or governmental setting.
• Strong ability to work with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with organizational values.
