Training Development Specialist

About the role

The Training Development Specialist (TDS) will act as the curriculum architect and training quality manager for the Specialized Training Support program supporting U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The role ensures that all courses, lesson plans, and training products remain operationally relevant, technically accurate, and compliant with the U.S. Army Training Requirements Analysis System (TRAS).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete courses and major training units of instruction.
• Create and update Points of Instruction (POIs), Individual Training Plans (ITPs), Course Activity Documents (CADs), and supporting materials within TRAS.
• Review, validate, and incorporate lesson‑plan revisions submitted by subject‑matter experts.
• Evaluate training programs for technical accuracy, instructional effectiveness, and alignment with learning objectives.
• Conduct training improvement analyses and implement curriculum enhancements.
• Manage curriculum development projects based on government direction, operational feedback, and self‑assessment findings.
• Provide curriculum support across both Det‑East and Det‑West locations to ensure standardization.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in military training development, curriculum design, or institutional training management.
• Hands‑on experience with TRAS or a comparable training management/documentation system.
• Proven ability to evaluate training products for technical accuracy and instructional effectiveness.
• Experience coordinating with SMEs to translate operational requirements into compliant training products.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
