About the role

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dynamic Training and Development Specialist to lead staff development across the agency. This position ensures that employees have the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to serve justice‑involved youth safely and effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver training modules, including presentations, manuals, role‑plays, assessments, and evidence‑based juvenile justice content.
  • Coordinate mandatory training compliance, track course completions, manage CPTP/LEO registrations, and produce training reports.
  • Lead New Hire Orientation and Annual In‑Service Training, handling facilitation, content creation, communication, and attendance tracking.
  • Conduct needs assessments and surveys to identify training gaps for staff and contracted providers; compile and analyze the data.
  • Align curricula with agency policies, SOPs, and performance improvement initiatives; schedule venues and logistics statewide.
  • Maintain systems for tracking training activities and generate related documentation.

Required profile

  • Three years of experience in planning, developing, delivering, or evaluating training programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (bachelor’s degree or six years full‑time work).
  • Core competencies: teamwork, accountability, ethical conduct, adaptability to change, and the ability to train others effectively.
  • Ability to design structured, relevant training, engage learners, adapt methods, and provide clear feedback.

Required skills

  • Instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Development of training materials (presentations, manuals, role‑plays, assessments).
  • Needs assessment, data collection, and analysis.
  • Coordination of mandatory training compliance and reporting.
  • Facilitation of orientation and in‑service sessions.
