Tourism Coordinator I

About the role

The South Carolina Welcome Center Program seeks a Tourism Coordinator I to deliver exceptional customer service to visitors at the Hardeeville Welcome Center. You will help travelers plan their trips, promote local destinations, and increase tourism spending in the state.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to every visitor, answering travel‑related questions and making accommodation or attraction reservations at no cost to partners.
• Promote South Carolina destinations and accommodations to extend visitor stays and boost expenditures.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of literature and promotional materials.
• Enter traveler research data into the database and keep records up to date.
• Collaborate with Visitor Service staff, tourism partners, and PRT departments to achieve program goals.
• Participate in regular training to expand knowledge of state tourism products and Welcome Center operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree in hospitality, marketing, public relations, retail or related field preferred, or high school diploma/GED with at least two years of customer‑service experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand and walk for extended periods, and work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license or government‑issued ID.
