Tooling Maintenance Technician – SkillBridge Program

About the role

Airbus Aerosystems is seeking a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join its Kinston, NC production team through the DoD SkillBridge program. This 180‑day assignment allows transitioning service members to apply their military technical expertise in a high‑precision aerospace environment.

Key responsibilities

• Dismantle, move, assemble, install, and repair industrial machinery and equipment using layout plans, blueprints, or verbal instructions.
• Operate hand tools (hammers, wrenches, crowbars) and power tools to service conveyors, tram rails, and other tooling.
• Use hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks to relocate heavy equipment safely.
• Construct foundations, align machines, and perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Set up and run machine tools and fabrication machinery for rework or new part production.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, collaborate with vendors, engineering, and other crafts to resolve equipment issues.
• Rework and maintain lay‑up tools and perform routine minor machine maintenance (filter changes, lubrication, coolant level checks).

Required profile

• Active‑duty service member within 180 days of separation.
• Written authorization from a commander (O‑4 or above).
• Current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks for equipment movement.
• Knowledge of machine tools and fabrication machinery.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and preventative maintenance.
• Familiarity with assembling and installing conveyors and tram rails.
