Threat Intel Manager, Influence Operations & Surveillance

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Threat Intel Manager to launch and lead the Influence Operations & Surveillance team within its Threat Intelligence group. The role focuses on detecting, investigating, and disrupting the misuse of Anthropic’s AI systems for state‑linked influence campaigns, coordinated inauthentic behavior, and surveillance by authoritarian actors.

Key responsibilities

• Define strategy, priorities, and outcomes for the Influence Operations & Surveillance mission area.
• Recruit, manage, and develop a small team of technical threat investigators with expertise in influence operations and surveillance.
• Lead complex investigations into state‑linked surveillance misuse, including commercial spyware vendors and AI‑enabled influence campaigns.
• Build the first automated detection capabilities: abuse signals, behavioral clustering, and coordinated‑network detection tailored to information manipulation and surveillance tooling.
• Conduct cross‑platform analysis linking on‑platform activity to broader campaigns across social media, messaging services, and the spyware supply chain.
• Attribute campaigns to specific actors, with emphasis on state‑sponsored operations from geopolitically significant regions.
• Engage external partners such as government agencies, platform integrity teams, academic researchers, and threat‑intel sharing communities.
• Produce public and partner‑facing reports on AI‑enabled influence operations and surveillance, informing safety‑by‑design strategies.

Required profile

• Deep subject‑matter expertise in influence operations, coordinated inauthentic behavior, or state surveillance/commercial spyware ecosystems.
• Proven experience leading investigative or threat‑intel teams.
• Ability to handle explicit, potentially disturbing content and respond to escalations during weekends and holidays.
