About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a Test Manufacturing Engineer (E2) to develop and execute test procedures, support fixture design, and drive continuous improvement in a semiconductor equipment environment. The role blends hands‑on testing, data analysis, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure product quality and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and use test procedures, collaborating with design and software engineering to define specifications.
- Assist test engineering on test fixture design, sourcing, and coordination.
- Gather operational and test data, evaluate results, and implement corrective actions.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements using DfX principles.
- Launch, release, and manage engineering change requests for new and existing products.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, failure reporting, and Process FMEA for new product development.

- Expanded conceptual knowledge in the discipline with a broadening capability set.
- Understanding of key business drivers and ability to apply them to work.
- Informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory duties.
- Strong problem‑solving skills in challenging technical situations.
- Impact on quality of own work and that of the team within established guidelines.
- Ability to explain complex technical information clearly.
Required skills
- Upgrade/downgrade software on servers and standalone computers.
- Configure advanced server systems, Ethernet hubs, and switches.
- Interpret electrical, pneumatic, fluid, and gas flow schematics.
- Write and optimize advanced testing scripts for semiconductor equipment.
- Use software simulation fixtures to create motion‑control scripts for robotics.
- Submit test fixture requests and manage motion‑control, plasma, vacuum, pressure, and fluid leak checks.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, or plumbing issues.
- Understand field startup procedures for manufacturing final test.
- Develop new test procedures at module and system levels.
- Work with BOMs and perform FFF, SRT list, Webbook, NSR, and FPY analyses.
