Technician Specialist – Sterile Compounding

About the role

The Technician Specialist – Sterile Compounding joins the inpatient pharmacy team at Ochsner Health. Working under pharmacist supervision, you will prepare and deliver sterile admixture products for adult and pediatric patients across the Medical Center.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists and fellow technicians to maintain an efficient medication distribution system.
• Accurately prepare sterile admixture products, including IV snap‑ons, large‑volume parenterals, syringes, chemotherapy, and bulk‑manufactured items.
• Ensure compliance with aseptic technique and safety guidelines for handling chemotherapy.
• Enter and retrieve patient information using pharmacy computer systems.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the state Board of Pharmacy.
• ASHP Sterile Product Preparation Certificate within 90 days of hire (or 5 years IV production experience in lieu, with certificate obtained within 90 days).
