Technician III, Molding & Tooling Engineering

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Technician III in Molding & Tooling Engineering to support its manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The role focuses on complex mold tooling design and plastic injection molding processes, ensuring high‑quality production in a regulated medical‑device environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform highly complex technical tasks related to mold tooling design and plastic injection molding.
• Support operations by improving efficiency and making decisions within defined procedures.
• Follow GxP regulations, adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Record activities and quality data in the CMMS (Maximo) system.
• Ensure rigorous quality control and continuous compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in molding or a regulated industry.
• Willingness to work Friday‑Sunday and every other Thursday (4:45 am‑4:45 pm) onsite in Houston.
• Travel requirement of 0‑10 %.
• Medical‑device or regulated‑industry experience preferred.

Required skills

• Molding and plastic injection experience.
• Preventative maintenance of molding equipment.
• Troubleshooting of molding machines and auxiliary systems.
• Robot/automated picking end‑of‑arm tooling knowledge.
• Proficiency with electrical, electronics and schematic diagrams.
• Use of CMMS (Maximo) for documentation.
