Technical Program Manager, RL Research

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead the Reinforcement Learning (RL) research program. You will own the systems and processes that accelerate research, turning insights into production‑ready RL runs while ensuring reliability and speed.

Key responsibilities

• Produce a regular, data‑driven read on RL research health, performance against baselines, and incident tracking.
• Partner with RL organization leads to prioritize, rank, and monitor experiment status.
• Drive end‑to‑end research reviews, set agendas, ensure necessary context, and close the loop on decisions.
• Design and implement frameworks that add structure to an unstructured research environment without hindering progress.
• Collaborate with research leads, infrastructure engineers, and data operations to identify blockers, balance competing needs, and make real‑time technical trade‑off decisions.

Required profile

• Background in machine‑learning engineering or research before moving into technical program management.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale ML training pipelines and RLHF systems.
• Proven ability to build execution plans and high‑leverage processes that improve operational efficiency.
• Strong debugging skills for data pipelines and ability to interpret RL experiment transcripts.
