Technical Program Manager – New College Graduate (MS/PhD)

About the role

As a Technical Program Manager for new college graduates, you will lead projects from concept through implementation within Applied Materials' semiconductor and display equipment divisions. This position is designed for candidates with a master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering or science discipline who are ready to launch their careers in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations using project management tools.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams, including internal engineers, external vendors, and matrixed staff, to meet on‑time and on‑budget objectives.
• Initiate and manage purchase requisitions and orders, driving cost‑schedule performance for equipment.
• Provide technical input and engineering expertise to resolve project complications and ensure successful release.
• Become a subject‑matter expert on assigned projects and support knowledge transfer across the site.

Required profile

• Graduating with a Master’s (or PhD) in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Good academic standing, preferably GPA > 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and a flexible, results‑driven mindset.
• Interest in building a career in the semiconductor industry.
• Knowledge of automation concepts.

Required skills

• Materials, deposition, and systems engineering knowledge.
• Experience with semiconductor applications and new product introduction.
• Program management and product lifecycle management expertise.
• Automation and project scheduling software proficiency.
• Customer‑focused Voice of Customer (VOC) analysis.
