Technical Accounting Manager

About the role

The Manager, Technical Accounting will lead the technical accounting function, providing guidance on complex business transactions, revenue recognition, and vendor agreements. This role ensures that Mastercard’s accounting policies are up‑to‑date, standardized, and compliant with both US and International GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Research and implement new accounting pronouncements.
• Maintain and regularly update accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform accounting research for new and non‑routine transactions to determine US and International GAAP treatment.
• Assist in financial decision‑making by proposing alternative accounting structures.
• Support quarterly intangible impairment assessments and review related analyses.
• Develop accounting memoranda and coordinate with external auditors.
• Provide day‑to‑day support for moderate to complex accounting issues and ensure SEC reporting compliance.
• Create training content and memos for new accounting pronouncements.
• Advise senior leadership on technical accounting matters and respond to special requests from senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant qualification.
• Proven credibility as a trusted advisor to business partners and senior leadership on complex technical accounting issues.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities with solid financial and business acumen.
• Experience overseeing financial control implementation and ensuring compliance across a diverse organization.
