Teaching Professor – Chemistry (Introductory Courses)

About the role

The Department of Chemistry at the University of St. Thomas seeks a full‑time Teaching Professor to lead introductory chemistry courses beginning September 1 2027. This non‑tenure‑track position focuses on high‑quality teaching, curriculum development, and service to the department and university.

Key responsibilities

• Teach approximately seven lecture and laboratory sections per year in general chemistry for majors, non‑majors, nursing, and engineering students.
• Coordinate the general chemistry program, including scheduling, lab resource management, and curricular assessment.
• Collaborate with faculty to design and implement new laboratory exercises and publish accompanying lab manuals.
• Organize and lead meetings of introductory chemistry instructors.
• Participate in departmental service activities and support the university’s inclusive learning mission.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and creating inclusive learning environments.
• Experience teaching introductory chemistry courses at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to work cooperatively with a laboratory team and broader department.
• Record of scientific publications and conference presentations is preferred.
