Tax Staff Accountant – Fully Remote

About the role

This is a preparer‑level seat on a fully remote tax team serving high‑net‑worth individuals and small businesses. You will prepare individual (1040), partnership (1065) and S‑corporation (1120‑S) returns under senior review, work with CCH ProSystem Fx Tax, QuickBooks and an internal practice management system on EST hours, and support bookkeeping and client communications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual, partnership and S‑corporation tax returns from client documents (W‑2s, 1099s, K‑1s, brokerage statements, bookkeeping records, etc.).
• Perform routine tax research using primary sources such as IRS.gov.
• Review client‑provided information, including detailed Excel spreadsheet analysis.
• Draft professional deliverables and client emails.
• Build document request lists and follow up on missing items with the Client Success team.
• Assist with bookkeeping preparation and review as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2–4 years of tax preparation experience.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with CCH ProSystem Fx Tax or CCH Axcess.

Required skills

• CCH ProSystem Fx Tax or CCH Axcess.
• QuickBooks Desktop or Online.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested IF formulas).
• Professional written deliverable and email drafting.
• Knowledge of partnership vs. S‑corporation tax compliance.
